I’d rather be Fergie

Can we just get real for a minute? It’s not that I don’t love my job or that I didn’t leap back into the field of HR and Recruiting when I had the chance but the truth of it is, sometimes, I’d rather be Fergie.

Fergie works hard, just like me. But unlike me, her work doesn’t take place for ten hours straight on an exercise ball. Her job is to make sure her body looks and feels good so it can do all those Fergie like bendy things.

Fergie has to market herself just like me. But my inane and sporadic tweets don’t really have the same effect as a cover spread on Lucky magazine. Last week, I wrote “shower” on my to do list.

Fergie has stuff she has to deliver. Me too! Except no one makes music videos about marketing budgets and strategic social strategies. Yet.

If Fergie has a zit it gets airbrushed and she probably never has to get a Groupon for facials.

I love what I do and I think I am making a difference. But it’s hard work and some days, I’d rather be Fergie.

PS I bet Fergie doesn’t get to eat Spicy Chicken Nuggets and a Frosty from Wendy’s anytime she wants though!
